About Us

The Robert James band is a six-piece ensemble featuring three horns and rhythm section. Based in San Antonio, we travel throughout central Texas.

After performing with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and too many road bands to recall, I assembled a dance band that’s a real crowd pleaser. It’s a small group with a big band sound! The group appeals to dancing audiences of every age.

We play “horny” music including authentic swing charts from the big band era, Sinatra style vocals, rhythm and blues, and custom variety arrangements.

Background

We made a swinging debut in the fall of 1998, and things have been cooking ever since. We have been featured in a TV appearance on SA Living, the Junior League Rummage Sale at Freeman Coliseum, and SPURS Fan Fiesta in the Alamodome. We support elegant private engagements for; Fair Oaks Country Club, Westin La Cantera Resort, Oak Hills Country Club, and Club Gireaud. Our corporate clients include Kiwanis International, the United Way of San Antonio, the Immigration Lawyers Association, and HEB’s Feast of Sharing.
